This page will describe what you have to do if you are resitting this module. You need to know firstly whether you have been granted first attempt resits or whether you are doing second attempt resits.

In order to pass the module you must:

  • have submitted a reasonable attempt at 2 out of 3 mini assessments and
  • have submitted a coursework project.

Your Feedback page will tell you what assessments you have been marked on som far.

You must do the all the resit work that you are due to take before 2pm on Monday 11th August 2024.

Remember to inform Prof Burnell that you are intending to do the resit (first or second attempts), as well as registering with the University for the resit attempt if you are doing 2nd attempts.

First Attempt Resits

If you have not previously submitted and have had feedback on the 24-25 coursework, you must do the main coursework assignment. For first attempt resits, the main coursework assignment is simply the same task as was originally set (so in effect, you have been given an extension until the summer deadline).

If you have previously submitted the 24-25 coursework and have had feedback on it, then you should do the Resit Coursework linked below, but your mark will not be capped at 40%.

Second Attempt Resits

If you are resiting the module because you didn't pass the module overall, your resit is a main coursework assignment. This will take the form of a different task from the one originally set. You will find informtion about the resit task on the module pages on Minerva after 9am on the 7th July. This will include a task sheet, template file and links for generating data and submitting the work.

Progress Reports

You are required to make a project plan (or to update your project plan if you are continuing with the original coursework task as a first attempt). You must complete weekly progress reports to cover your progress against your plan and to update the plan as necessary. Your work will not be accepted for marking if you make less than three separate progress reports. If you submit exactly 3 reports, you will fail the continuous assessment but your work will be marked.

Mini Assessment Resits

If your feedback page shows that you are missing a mark for two or three  mini-assessments, you must take the corresponding resit mini-assessments. You do the resit mini-assessments whether you have first or second attempt status as the solutions were given out for the original mini-assessments.

If you are unsure what resit assignments you need to do, please consult Prof Burnell

Submission of Resit Work

The deadline for all resit assignments is 2pm on Monday 11th August 2025.  Submissions after this deadline will incur a penalty of 5% per day or part of day that the work is late.

Where to Submit Work

Submibssion of resit mini-assessments is via this website.

Submission of first attempt Coursework resits is via the original Semester 2 Coursework folder on Minerva (ignore any notices about work being late).

Submission of second attempt resit work is via the Resit Information folder on the module's Minerva page.

Getting Help

Summer resits are done with no additional teaching. Therefore there are no extra sessions in clusters or drop in sessions. You can post questions to the module forums and Prof Burnell will answer them when he is avai;lable. Due to family holidays it may take up to a week to get a response. As with the main coursework, email should be reserved for confidential matters only.
